COVID-19 RESPONSE

(Updated 6/2/20) In keeping with the suggestions laid out by the CDC, Scott L. Fenton, PsyD, LLC will continue to offer ony telehealth sessions for the time being, in order to provide the greatest amount of safety for you, me, and our loved ones. Telehealth includes phone sessions and video sessions (there are several platform options available). Insurance is covering video sessions at the normal session rates for the timebeing, so nothing should change for you in terms of cost or billing. In case you were wondering, while there are some obvious benefits to meeting in-person, current research suggests there is no appreciable difference in effectiveness between in-person and teletherapy sessions.

I am accepting new clients at this time, and can get you into my schedule in fairly short order. Social distancing certainly presents us all with challenges, yet it also presents us with some unique opportunities. I would like to be available to you to help and support you in both.

Please contact me with any questions.

Keep an eye on this space. I will update it as soon as anything changes. Thank you so much for your patience as we all try to navigate these new waters. And, please continue to stay safe and healthy!

Welcome

Deciding to start therapy takes courage in the true sense of the word: an action taken with a full heart.  So it is with my own heart-full-ness that I welcome you. You're welcome whether you’re feeling anxious, sad, angry, scared, numb, or depressed. No matter if your troubles feel really big or seemingly minor, from looking to explore the depth of life’s mysteries, to wanting to start a new habit, you are welcome here. Regardless of gender, sexuality, spirituality, race or ethnicity, you are welcome here. Here, you will be treated as a fellow traveler on your own unique path to wholeness. Here, there is compassion for what you’ve been through with a focus on your heart’s deepest desire: to experience the love, depth, and brilliance of your true being. Welcome!

What I Offer

Heart-centered Therapy

Brené Brown’s Research on wholeheartedness showed that quality of life is directly correlated with the degree to which people are courageous enough to be vulnerable in all aspects of their lives...and I agree!

About Scott L. Fenton, PsyD

A licensed clinical psychologist serving the greater Madison, Wisconsin area, Dr. Fenton specializes in presence-based therapy. He has completed trainings in EMDR and Hakomi Therapy, and is familiar with other mindful, somatic-based therapies. He is currently working towards his advanced certificate in EMDR through the Personal Transformation Institute.

"I love this work because it affects me, I am not a casual observer. Good therapy is a mutual process.

“In my mind, a good therapist doesn’t pretend to know the path of others. Rather, because they have themselves been lost so many times before, they know something about paths, about the deep, dark woods, and about finding one’s way. And they know the importance of a trusted companion.”

Scott's mission as a therapist is to meet people exactly where they are and create an environment of absolute acceptance. In such a space, where even the most vulnerable and fragile parts of ourselves feel safe and appreciated, a natural capacity for regulation, healing, strength, and wisdom comes effortlessly to life.

There is No Test

By Scott Fenton

I don't know if all dreams are significant, but it does seem that some dreams have something important to tell us. Through the unique and universal symbols in our lives, dreams are a way for our unconscious to speak with us in our less guarded state of sleep. The meaning and depth of significant dreams can sometimes take days, weeks, even years to unfold. But other times what a dream has to say can be quite transparent, and it is of this latter kind that I'd like to share with you.

Effective (and Humorous) Meditation Instruction

By Scott Fenton

I can't recommend this video by Eckhart Tolle enough. For me, it's been a game-changer. Mr. Tolle describes the most effective approach to experiencing presence I have ever heard, and he does so with clarity and humor. If you don't have time right now to listen to it, click on the link and bookmark it. Then, make an appointment with yourself to give it a listen. You'll be glad you did.
