“We have not even to risk the adventure alone
for the heroes of all time have gone before us.
The labyrinth is thoroughly known ...

Deciding to start therapy is a courageous choice to turn around and face your fears, a decision that most do not make.  So it is with my sincere respect that I welcome you to this space, no matter who you are or what you are going through. Whether you’re feeling anxious, sad, angry, scared, numb, or depressed, you’re welcome here. No matter if your troubles feel really big or seemingly minor, you are welcome here. No matter if you’re looking to explore the depth of life’s mysteries, or wanting to start a new habit, you are welcome here. Regardless of your sexuality, spirituality, race or ethnicity, you are welcome here. Here, you will be treated as a fellow traveler on your own unique path to wholeness. Here, there is compassion for what you’ve been through with a focus on your heart’s deepest desire: to experience the love, depth, and brilliance of your true being. Welcome!

...And where you had thought to be alone, you shall be with all the world.” - Joseph Campbell

What I Offer

Meditation, relaxation, grounding practices...all lead to a greater sense of ease and enjoyment
Whether you're having to struggle to get through the day, or simply noticing a vague, undefinable longing for...something...you are not alone.
Asking for help can be one of the hardest, most vulnerable things we can do. My job is to be with you in a judgement-free zone.

About Scott L. Fenton, PsyD

A licensed clinical psychologist serving the greater Madison, Wisconsin area, Dr. Fenton specializes in presence-based therapy. He has completed trainings in EMDR and Hakomi Therapy, and is familiar with other mindful, somatic-based therapies. He is currently working towards his advanced certificate in EMDR through the Personal Transformation Institute.

"I love this work because it affects me, I am not a casual observer. Good therapy is a mutual process.

“In my mind, a good therapist doesn’t pretend to know the path of others. Rather, because they have themselves been lost so many times before, they know something about paths, about the deep, dark woods, and about finding one’s way. And they know the importance of a trusted companion.”

Scott's mission as a therapist is to meet people exactly where they are and create an environment of absolute acceptance. In such a space, where even the most vulnerable and fragile parts of ourselves feel safe and appreciated, a natural capacity for regulation, healing, strength, and wisdom comes effortlessly to life.

Effective (and Humorous) Meditation Instruction

I can't recommend this video by Eckhart Tolle enough. For me, it's been a game-changer. Mr. Tolle describes the most effective approach to experiencing presence I have ever heard, and he does so with clarity and humor. If you don't have time right now to listen to it, click on the link and bookmark it. Then, make an appointment with yourself to give it a listen. You'll be glad you did.

Here’s the deal. The human soul doesn’t want to be advised or fixed or saved. It simply wants to be witnessed — to be seen, heard and companioned exactly as it is.
